September 10th, 2015

  • In the US, Patriot Day is observed as the National Day of Service and Remembrance for the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.  Our moment of silence tomorrow will be dedicated to the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
  • Welcome Mrs. Owens!  Mrs. Lori Owens will be alongside Mrs. Eason through 9/18 getting the hang of all things Junior High!  I hate to embarrass her, but I have attached a picture so you can put a face with the name if you aren't already familiar with Mrs. Owens.  Let's give her a very warm welcome!
  • The JH Student Council is seeking designs for a JH t-shirt.  Contest details are hanging up around the school.  Designs are due September 11th.
  • At times, seconds are available in the cafeteria.  Only students with a positive balance in their account will be allowed to purchase seconds.
  • Attention parents of Jr. High Honor Band selectees, Jr. High Girl's Basketball players, and Jr. High Literary participants:  For all the Sangamon County Jr. High Schoolmasters events a professional printed program is distributed free of charge at the event.  Take this opportunity to place a Happy Ad in the event program for as little as $1.  Visit our website atwww.mcqualityeducserv.com for the details on submitting your Happy Ad today.
  • It is critical that students are dropped off and picked up on the JH side each day.  It is a safety issue that is completely avoidable.  If you are dropping off and/or picking up your child from school it must be from the designated areas and NOT on the dome side of the school.
  • If you don't have Family Access please contact Mrs. Eason to get setup - this is an invaluable resource!
  • Check out www.pretzelathletics.com for Pretzel Athletics updates, schedules, and results.  You can also follow Pretzel Athletics on Twitter @nbpretzelpride and on Facebook.

  • Sad news today from NBJH.  Mrs. Eason has accepted a position at Lincoln Land Community College and will be leaving us soon.  I've been avoiding putting that in writing because that makes it real! :( Being able to serve as JH Principal with Mrs. Eason by my side for the past three years is something that I will be forever grateful.  With that being said, we are so excited to announce that pending board approval, Mrs. Lori Owens will be making the transition from NBE over to the Junior High!  You will see Mrs. Owens in the JH starting on September 10th.
  • Literary sign-ups are due Wednesday, September 9th to Mrs. Tom.
  • Message from Coach Brosi on Heart & Soul (Girls on the Run).  It's not too late to sign up!  This program meets in the fall on Mondays and Thursday from 3:30-4:45.  Come check out the first practice on September 10th for free.  If you want to sign up, go to gotrcentralillinois.org.

  •  Lunch Detention notifications will begin this week.  If your child is sent to lunch detention, you will be notified via Skyward email.  If you have questions about lunch detention, please contact the teacher that sent your child to lunch detention.  Homework completion is critical to success in school.  Our teachers only assign meaningful work directly tied to the learning objectives and it will rarely exceed 10-15 questions/problems.
  • The registration fees for 15-16 have been posted.  You can make a payment on Skyward or send a check to school with your student.  The JH fees are $100.
  • As the first football game approaches, please let this serve as a reminder that students K-8 must be accompanied by an adult to home events.  Students should either sit with their parents or enjoy the Salty Section in the West end zone.
  • Students interested in participating in Scholastic Bowl: There will be a short meeting after school Thursday Aug. 27 from 3:30-3:45. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Mrs. Beard Friday the 28th during lunch for hand-outs.
  • There will be a parent/player meeting for any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls interested in playing JH Girls Basketball on September 1st in the New Berlin High School foods room at 7:30 PM.
  • If you don’t have Family Access please contact Mrs. Eason to get setup – this is an invaluable resource!
