April 28th, 2016

  • Sports physicals will be offered in May (5/5 & 5/19) for NB student athletes. An email was sent with the physical form. The form can also be found on the Pretzel Athletics website.  Please fill out and sign the first page and return it to reserve your spot. Current 5th and 8th graders are not eligible as they require a more comprehensive physical per Illinois state law.
  • The JH Band will be participating in the Six Flags Music Festival on 4/29.  The students will perform a selection of songs in the Palace Theater in front of a panel of judges.  Bands who score a superior rating will receive a plaque for their achievement.
  • 5/6 is an 1145 Dismissal for School Improvement.
  • All library books are due 5/11.  Summer checkout program will begin 5/16.
  • The JH Awards Ceremony will be held on 5/17 at 2PM in the Pretzel Dome.  Family members are welcome to attend.
  • 6th Grade Orientation will held again this year on 5/17 from 6-7:30PM.  Please enter through the JH office doors. 
  • Summer camp registration is now open. Visit the Pretzel Athletics website for the camp brochure. Registration is due 5/20.
  • The end of the year DANCE will be hosted by New Berlin Junior High Student Council on 5/20 from 7-9 PM in the courtyard.  8th Grade Dinner Send-Off will be before the dance: Details TBA.
  • the 4th Qtr. Party will be 5/23. Eligible students will be attending a Peoria Chiefs Baseball Game!
  • 8th grade promotion practice will be held 5/24 and is required to participate in promotion.  Please also be reminded that in order to participate all fees and due balances must be zero.  The deadline to pay is 5/13.
  • The last day of student attendance is 5/24.
  • 8th Grade promotion will be held at 7PM on 5/26.  This event will be streamed live, free of charge.  Click here to watch.

  • JH PARCC testing will continue into next week.
  • 8th Graders: Please bring in a recent picture of you for our bulletin board.
  • Any 8th grade student interested in running Cross Country at Franklin next fall should attend the meeting on 4/26 during 8th hour.
  • JH Volleyball Players: Please turn in your volleyball warm-ups to the JH office ASAP.
  • The New Berlin FCCLA will be selling Strawberry Pies through 4/29.  Please see Mrs. McClarey or any FCCLA member.

  • There will be a student/parent meeting immediately after school TODAY for 8th grade girls interested in participating in Football and/or Competitive Cheerleading next year.
  • Just a few reminders for parents as we will continue to enforce these expectations.
  1. Cell phone use is allowed during passing periods and lunch.  Students should use the phone in the office to call home.  Students should not have their phones out during class OR in the hallways during class periods.
  2. Backpacks and purses are to carry books and belongings to and from school.  Backpacks and purses should remain in lockers or in homerooms during the school day.
  3. Parents please help us make sure you student is dressed appropriately for school.  The biggest issue we will run into is shorts (should be past fingertips), leggings (bottom must be covered), and tank tops (shoulders must be covered).
  • The spring picture packages are in.  Students will take home the packages to see if your family is interested in all or some of the pictures.  If you are, simply bring a check made out to NBJHS for the pictures you are keeping and return the rest.  Pictures and money should be turned in by Wednesday, 4/13.
  • JH PARCC testing is schedule for 4/18-4/22.
