September 24th, 2015

  •  I am so proud of our JH students!  We have started of the year without a hitch and we are in full swing!  I am proud to be a part of this wonderful school!
  • The softball team finished 13-9 on the season after losing in the Regional Championship game.
  • We are seeing great improvement in math skills through the use of IXL.  Students are required to log 1 hour per week.  The program can be accessed through a desktop computer or through a mobile device (phone, iPad, etc.).  The program focuses on rote math skills.  In math class, the students are using those skills to complete more application based questions.
  • Attention parents of Jr. High Honor Band selectees, Jr. High Girl's Basketball players, and Jr. High Literary participants:  For all the Sangamon County Jr. High Schoolmasters events a professional printed program is distributed free of charge at the event.  Take this opportunity to place a Happy Ad in the event program for as little as $1.  Visit our website at www.mcqualityeducserv.com for the details on submitting your Happy Ad today.
  • It is critical that students are dropped off and picked up on the JH side each day.  It is a safety issue that is completely avoidable.  If you are dropping off and/or picking up your child from school it must be from the designated areas and NOT on the dome side of the school.
  • If you don't have Family Access please contact Mrs. Owens to get setup - this is an invaluable resource!
  • Check out www.pretzelathletics.com for Pretzel Athletics updates, schedules, and results.  You can also follow Pretzel Athletics on Twitter @nbpretzelpride and on Facebook.

  • In 7th and 8th grade physical education, the students have begun their soccer unit.  The 7th graders are participating in the Sport Education Model, where the students become coaches and lead class.  The student coaches have done a fantastic job creating practice plans, running practice, and encouraging everyone to improve.  The student coaches are Jack Kindred, Ayden Smith, Hunter Wilkin, Adam Crossin, Hunter Wells, and Matt Drake.  If you see one of the coaches, make sure to tell them they are doing a great job!  Ladies, be thinking about if you want to be a coach, as the next time we do the Sport Education Model it will be your turn to be coaches. - Mr. McClarey

  • Sad news today from NBJH.  Mrs. Eason has accepted a position at Lincoln Land Community College and will be leaving us soon.  I've been avoiding putting that in writing because that makes it real! :( Being able to serve as JH Principal with Mrs. Eason by my side for the past three years is something that I will be forever grateful.  With that being said, we are so excited to announce that pending board approval, Mrs. Lori Owens will be making the transition from NBE over to the Junior High!  You will see Mrs. Owens in the JH starting on September 10th.
  • Literary sign-ups are due Wednesday, September 9th to Mrs. Tom.
